The Honorable John Marz

John F. Marz was re-elected in June 2017 to the Henderson City Council representing Ward III. He previously served by appointment starting in January 2012 and first won election in April 2013.
Councilman Marz serves with the mayor and his fellow council members as the legislative branch of the Henderson community. His responsibilities include setting policies and making decisions concerning numerous aspects of local government for Nevada’s second largest city.
Councilman Marz represents the city on the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors and Southern Nevada Water Authority board of directors. Marz is also a member of the Colorado River Commission and the Henderson Hospital Community Advisory Committee. In addition, he serves on the City of Henderson Audit Committee.
A Henderson resident for over 30 years, Councilman Marz is the owner of a marketing consultancy firm. His professional experience includes more than four decades in marketing, advertising and public relations at the senior executive and corporate levels with Mandalay Resort Group in Las Vegas and DRGM Advertising in Reno and Las Vegas.
Prior to joining the Henderson City Council, Marz served on the Henderson Planning Commission from 2009 to 2012. He also served for four years on both the Washoe County Planning Commission and Nevada State Commission on Tourism. His community volunteer activities include serving as president of the Fox Ridge Property Owners Association for three years and on the Estes McDoniel Elementary School Parent Teacher Association for two years.
Councilman Marz graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in marketing.
He enjoys attending the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering each year in Elko, Nevada with friends and family. He is an avid golfer and enjoys playing pickle ball.
